Markup OK in RSS description element?

I've written some code to generate an RSS feed from my website.

I know that this is valid for the description element of a channel or item:

    Code:

The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.

    But is this valid?

    Code:

The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.More articles and other stuff here.

And what will most RSS clients do with the markup within the CDATA section? I notice that IE interprets it correctly, safari ignores the tags and just displays the content of the tag and Epiphany on Debian just makes a dog's dinner of it!

I ask because I've see feeds that do exact what I've shown above.
