XML Beginner Need Serious Help! Please!

    Hi Everyone,

I am extremely new to XML, and don't really know a thing about it. However, I hope some of you on here can help me out. I am currently trying to use XML with a distributor I have so I can use it on my website. I signed up for the XML etc, and they gave me a link. When I clicked on this link it gave me this error:

    XML Parsing Error: syntax error
    Location: https://tdxml.techdata.com/xmlservlet
    Line Number 1, Column 1:

    Unrecognized transaction
    ^
Now what am I doing wrong? Do I need coding for XML to make sure it works on my website, or why did they give me this url? Someone told me I need an xml viewer/reader on my website? However, I thought that is to view/read xml files, of which I don't have access to. I am using my computer at home when trying to gain access to this URL. I also gave them the ip address to my website, and then it told me that my static ip address of my laptop was not registered to I registered the static ip of my laptop and then got this error.

Can someone please tell me what is wrong, and why it is giving me this error, and also how I can integrate XML onto my website, or can someone please tell me how I can gain access to this URL to get XML files, and from there how do I integrate the files onto my website, if I need any files at all.

Any feedback, or detailed responses would be much appreciated. I am pretty experienced in some coding but nothing in the area of XML, or how to slightly setup or use it.

If this helps at all I am using Windows 7 64 bit home premium, and I am on the latest standard version of Firefox, with no special add ons, and on a standard VAIO laptop using my homes cable internet provided by Charter.

    Thank You!

    Jamie

if I go to that address, I get an out-of-business message, i.e. the server denies serving any XML. it seems you need to match certain conditions to get an XML back.

Thank you for your response. However, the only system requirements if for me to register my static ip address, of which I have sent to them. That is why I don't understand why I am getting that error. Found below is a link containing a very short understanding of what the URL is for etc. If you could take a look at it and do a little further investigating while trying to figure out what my error is etc, it would be greatly appreciated.

I am so confused by this.

The page is being served as text/xml, but it only returns this:
    Code:
IP address 71.204.161.15 is not registered with this service
Clearly, that's not well-formed XML. It looks like a problem with your webhost. (I'm sorry I don't have time to dig any deeper, but I've got a long list of to-dos that I cannot put off!)

hi sorry as this is an xml for a distributor you must have a registered ip address to get through to this URL. I have registered my static ip but I got the error that is shown above.

Hi everyone, This is just to add to my message above. This is the message they sent me when I recieved my email from them for the URL:

    Code:
Your registration has been completed and you are now able to submit live production XML messages.

    The URL for production is:
    https://tdxml.techdata.com/xmlservlet
They also said if I have any problems to go to this url:

    Code:
    https://tdxml.techdata.com
Can someone please do some snooping around on there and see why I keep getting this error:

    Code:
    XML Parsing Error: syntax error
    Location: https://tdxml.techdata.com/xmlservlet
    Line Number 1, Column 1:

    Unrecognized transaction
    ^
I am supposed to be able to log on and get my xml files. Also, they only allow visitors during certain days, and hours of the day which is why you may receive an error about some business hours of operation or something like that. You also must have a registered static ip to gain access.
