    JavaScript services needed

I'm a moderator on an RP forum and have recently been dealing with a severe conflict between my users. I'm looking to hire someone who can put together a java script that would let them hide/disappear the posts of the other person completely. In essence, I'm looking for something similar to these scripts, but designed for use on Dreamwidth Studios

    https://greasyfork.org/scripts/3577-...rsonal-hellban

There is already a function on Dreamwidth to block individuals from posting to your personal journal, but if two people are part of the same community, they will see each other. I would like to have the script hide posts from the desired user journal regardless of where that user is posting. I'm looking for it to be compatible with the Greasemonkey add-on for Firefox.

If anyone could even just give me an idea of the level of effort they think would be required for this, I would really appreciate it. I have money to pay for the work, but I'm not sure how long something like this would or should take.

Why would you ever do this with JavaScript?

It would make much more sense to do it via server-side coding. PHP/JSP/ASP.NET. Whatever that product is written in.

It's the only thing I found an add-on for with Firefox. Apologies if this seems like a lay mistake. I don't have access to the actual code for Dreamwidth or anything like that. I'm just a moderator for a free RP community that's hosted through Dreamwidth. I'm looking for a work around since their team indicated there was no function currently available for what I was looking for when I contacted them. JavaScript codes were recommended by a friend who has used the above Firefox add-on and one of the scripts indicated.

    Ahhh...got you.

This would all be much easier if you could at least modify one of the files used in the web page. If you bring up the page, click on the VIEW menu, click on the SOURCE or PAGE SOURCE menu item, then you will be looking at the HTML code as the browser sees it. If anyplace in that page there is a <script src="xxxxx.js"> tag, then you could go find that file on the server and modify it to include the JS you want to use to do this. That way you don't have to try to create plugins for all the different browsers. Plus, it will always work and won't depend on your users installing the appropriate plugin. I assume you are going to use cookies to note which other users to block?

I have completed this job. I developed a user script that works for Firefox (via Greasemonkey) and Chrome (via Tampermonkey) or in any browser (e.g. Opera has native support for user scripts) that supports User Javascript or more commonly known as user script (with .user.js extension). No need to modify a js file used in the page, you just have to know how to find the target HTML elements in the DOM and manipulate it on the fly as if your script is part of the page.
