    Looks rather plain and simple to me, and the code is bad

    I agree, I wouldn't spend 5 seconds on that page without closing it!

    Firstly there seems to be tonnes of adverts over the page from Amazon, the page hasn't really got any design at all or anything - it just looks like everythings been thrown onto there, and the dictionary doesn't even work!

    Then there's the bad logo, the bad font, and the bad code. I'm sorry but it needs a lot of work to be honest.

    Get rid of those Amazon banners, add some colour, and change the font and then it'll start to take shape.

    I did a quick search for 'dictionary' on Google and came across many which you could get ideas from. I think simplicity should be the key to making it inviting for the end user.

    Hi,

    I am ready to hearing criticisms! No problems!

    Sometimes ago my website had not banners or ads. 1 banner of Amazon and

    1. 1 banner of Barnes and Noble would be acceptable?
    2. Why the wrong with the LOGO? Do you not liked of the Logo?
    Thanks

    Maybe a well placed banner ad (or two) or something would be acceptable but it depends how well it integrates within the layout. I for one don't like an ad jumping out the page at me. eg. Look at the top right of this page, you don't really notice it's an advert at all.

    I just don't like the image full stop.

    It has very poor compression (look around the edges of it, and around the edges of the font), bad colours (in my opinion), bad font, ... I just don't like it. I think it's very tacky; and if I think that, then I'm sure a lot of other people would think that too.

    I'm glad you can accept criticism! I'm looking forward to see how your site progresses.

    Hi,

    It is better?

    I did some changes in Font and Layout.

    I did some changes in the source code and layout.

    The pages open in the same browser.

    The code itself, however continues with the same problems... I believe... I repeat dozens of times: <font face="verdana" size="2">, for example. I would need find a .css script - a cool script - to change this problem.

    I look forward to hearing from you

    Thanks

    Colt

    PS. Some internal pages shows some banners no links! Are tests I was doing in my computer, soon I will change them!

    I think you're going to have to learn xhtml and css, or atleast symantics(sp) of coding.

    You've got 700 lines of html on your index page for such a simple layout, which shouldn't take up anymore than 50 lines

    One example:
    Code:
    <font face="verdana" size="2"><b>
    <P><CENTER>
    <DIV><BR>&nbsp;<BR>
     © MM-MMV Dictionarium.com All Rights Reserved
    </DIV></CENTER></p></b></font>
    A div shouldn't be inside a paragraph. A paragraph shouldn't be inside font tags.
    Code:
    //css
    .copy{
       font:bold 14px verdana;
       text-align:center;
    }
    Code:
    //html
    <p class="copy">&copy; MM-MMV Dictionarium.com All Rights Reserved</p>
    There you go, 5 lines of html taken down to 1

    Logo isn't there at the moment?

    Anyhow, yes I would say you should do as Nightfire is suggesting and redo the whole thing using (x)html + css.

    Cool

    Hi Artists,

    Well, changes were made!

    1. Layout was changed.
    2. the sum of lines of codes was reduced from 700 to 550
    3. I add some 'css'

    I would like to change more...

    For example add a color like 'sand' as in http://www.alistapart.com/articles/taminglists/

    That color + white will be cool and soft!

    My two 'menus' are not aligned perfectly, but it is a problem in font, I believe!

    The Logo was changed. It was the old logo!

    Comments and criticism are welcome!

    Looking better.

    Your still using old techniques though so I'd recommend getting rid of the table layout.

    See post below.
