    HowBizarro.org Redesign

Im redesigning and remaking my site, and I have two layouts Ive made that I cant decide between for the main layout. I need some input on this so any suggestions or comments are appreciated

http://www.howbizarro.org/tests/hb/ - layout I started off with; tell me how you feel about the layout overall, and if the bar across the top with "Welcome: Guest bla bla bla" looks good.

http://www.howbizarro.org/tests/hb/damn.gif - newer layout i just made recently; tell me how you feel about this one too.

I like it! I like the one you have now, I do like the welcome guest thing, but the red bar that it is on should be a little bigger I think. Good job!

Not too bad for a 15 year old

ditto w/ Single. The bar seems to cramp the text.

The second one seems to have potential. Thing tat gets me is are the darker parts under or over the lighter canvas parts? I had an idea at first glance. I t lookslike they are supposed to be over the lighter canvas. Maybe tilt them a little and make them stick past over in from the lighter shade. to make it more deffinate they are on top. Maybe also "stitch" them on graphically as if they were sewn on to the liter canvas.

Th edges look pretty much to uniform in darkness to me. maybe play with "messing up" the edges more color wise. NBot sure if your going for the old or burned look.

given a few mods the second one looks better to me.

    Thank You both
The bar is a tad cramping to the text, Ive been playing with the size for a while now I guess a few more pixels cant hurt.

I have no Idea where I was going with the 2nd one, the stitch sounds like a good idea. I think what I was origionally going for was to have the darker parts where the text is be below the lighter parts, kinda like as if the top lighter part was torn to reveal the darker ones but I never got around to changing the bg to match the dark parts, and taking away some of the "wear"

I would love to add some more mess to the edges but I have to keep codeability in mind. I think if I have too much variation in the edges file sizes will be too large and I would lose some of the fluidity in the layout.

Depending on how you plan on coding it it doesn't seem to hard to make it work. If your going to have hovers on the links than a little more work (and a little more images) are needed of course.

Asd for the file size you can make it work with all jpgs as long as the background of the page is a flat color like it is. shouldn't be to hard.

"fluidity"? am I to assume you want to make the layout fluid? That's gonna be tough at first glance.

Witht a fixed layout and a solid bgcolor you should be able to slice up the image and make it loadab;e and easy enough to code.

anywho, I think it has something and you should give it a go no matter.

Bizarro! I love you! Bizarro I love you! Bizarro I love you!

I like the current one. The second one should be something to accomplish, but certainly not impossible. I really look forward to seeing a fluid version.

I got the 2nd layout coded(http://www.howbizarro.org/tests/hb/a...html)...mostly. Im having an issue where the footer wont clear the nav, im going to post about it in the HTML CSS forum.
EDIT: Fixed without having to post it(im forgetful of these tricks you need to know, and the basic structure of the lay)
