    Smile Please review my website

    Hi,

I developed a game site based on Joomla platform.
My purpose was to build a site that simple and easy to use,
not bloated like many game sites I know.
It should be clear from the first second you enter,
that this is a game site.

I would like to hear what you think about it.
    Do you like the design?
    What should be improved?
    Any comments will be welcomed.

    My site: Games to Enjoy

    Thanks

The way the categories are setup on this site are nice. I like that you have the choice to choose between genre and age/ gender settings. The design is decent, but I personally would make the site fluent to fit in the resolution it's viewed in. Also the pop ups from clicking on games is slightly annoying, it would be more user-friendly if you choose another form of monetization that is less invasive.

Ok I'm going to be honest and say it is not bad.
However things for improvement and some of these may be a bit over stated I guess I should say?
    1) The footer at the bottom, doesn't look attractive.
    2) The ads down the left side are prioritized over your poll, but you said you didn't like bloated sites with ads?
    3) Create drop down bars up the top, like games for girl make categories so it is faster to navigate. Also there are more popular game categories than games for girls, kids and adults.

However, the site has potential and not every user or you may agree to what I have said it is your site, your opinion!
    Good luck my friend.

    Hi gamestoenjoy,

    Overall score: I like it.

    What I don't like.
A connection between domain name and hippo logo is missing.
Slow loading from time to time.

It was indeed clear from the beginning that this was a games site.

The design is basic, so I won't go into that too much. The main criticism I have of this website is that you have advertisements blended into the actual content of the website, in a way which impedes usability as I never know if what I'm clicking on is going to be the actual game, or just bounce me through to another website. Of course, I can keep an eye on the status bar when I hover over a link, however the average user is not going to do that.

It's worth thinking to yourself about what is or isn't trustworthy behaviour. You may get less clicks on your ads if you make it clear that they are ads, however you will get a lot more traffic and return users long term.

I don't agree that there has to be a link between the hippo logo and the name of the website. It's a gaming website and a whimsical character is just fine by me! However you many want to think about the core themes/symbols (and, indeed, colours) which you want to use throughout the site and use them repeatedly. The hippo doesn't seem to appear anywhere other than the logo.

If you would like me to critique the design of the website in detail too I will be happy to do so.

It seems a bit overwhelming, all the very bright colors. Maybe tone it down just a *little*? The icons for the games could be smaller, or whitespace added in between them. Or the icons could be B&W, but color on mouseover - I think that might make the site experience pop nicely.

It looks like a nice, fairly generic flash games site. I feel as though the color scheme could use some sprucing up/changes. Also, the topnav seems a little much. When you hover over them and they drop down a bit, I feel as though that's a bit unnecessary. Maybe a slight brightening of the color would be better than a minor animation. The font also seems a bit small for a topnav. Hope some of this helped.

Your website has a simple, colorfull design, which I think is good for the type of website it is (as it regards online games, so the design should be playful). However I'd change the grey background which kind of contrasts to the rest of the design's colors (e.g. make it a sweet light color, or a deep dark color, rather than the basic grey).

As for the menu on the left side of the design: I think it has a little bit too much open space in it between the 'Random games' part and the rest of the menu (which is put way below it).

Other than that I think the website is organized pretty well for its purpose, and I wish you all the best for your website!
