Post Review Web hosting service site

    http://ahobbler.blahertech.org/

In the last few weeks I decided just because I wanted to, to make up a free web hosting site that has no binds to Apache and runs completely off php and mysql.
I made a pretty little design that looks good in both IE7 and FF, and has a few extra features for Firefox users. I didn't check for IE6, but it should be dead soon when MS releases 8 and drops support for 6 (which will make the web developer world happy). I did check valid xhtml on the homepage and it passed, but not on the rest of the pages since I assume they are since I just copied and pasted the design and the only difference is the content. The CSS WOULD be valid if I didn't have any '-moz' or '-webkit' styling in it, I was just wondering if there where any conditional statements to make that valid.

I did complete the whole site from scratch and used a login engine that I made from scratch from another site of mine. I know it has probably vulnerabilities somewhere and most like you can throw a sql injection somewhere. Although it tried a few times on different forms and I didn't get through.

I would love not only a review of the actual design which I made to look pretty simple, but if you could also review the features of the site and the ease (or frustration) of using the web service.

Be strict, any little small thing will help and any suggestions would help. Thanks in advanced for all your time and consideration.

    Design:
    - The color from the boxes goes outside the rounded corners.
    - Perhaps a tad more anti-aliasing on the rounded corners.

    Technical:
    - Perhaps you could set it up so it uses subdomains instead of domains (e.g example.ahobbler.blahertech.com).
    - Looks like a solid service. I haven't found any glitches whatsoever.

    Good job!

    Thank you.

Your actually thinking the exact same as what I was thinking. The corners do look kind of bad, but I don't know how to fix that, it's FF's border-radius CSS. If you have anyway of actually fixing it, please tell me. I've tried larger borders and it looks even worse.

I also am in the process of giving the user his own domain, and it might even working better that using a directory since the user will have better control of tracking and other things.

I didn't see what was offered with the hosting. Thats something I'm sure people would be interested in.

    First Thoughts:-
    *no comment*

    Design Good
I like the blue gradient, reminds me of my site...

    Design Bad
Time new roman? There is a lot of better fonts out there. And I emphasize a lot.
Unfortunately, I am totally against embossing. I think it's an amateur effect.
    Looks plain.
What's with all the gaps leading into the horrid background?
Maybe the background can become more eye-catching instead of eye-aching?
    Looks very web1.0-ish.

    Technical
    It validates! Woohoo! :-D
Rounded corners does not work in Safari, which is used by millions.

    Moodle.

Ok, I've added http://ahobbler.blahertech.org/about.php to tell people what they get with Ahobbler.

As for the font, I never even set a font-type. I completely forgot about that. Any suggestions on what I should use?

As for the background, I do agree I need a better background.

The design also should be kind of simple, but I would like to make it a little bit more web 2.0ish, although I can't think of how I would obtain that. Later on, I will improve the admin to look a lot better and to be more interactive. I'm having my friend help me with that right now.

For the rounded corners. That's a optional design feature. As CSS 3 comes out more and more people will have it. I don't understand why safari isn't working, I did use the webkit border-radius, although that might be for a beta version.

Since I've got a little time on my hands I could co-operate with you to improve the design of the site... If you wish. (for free!)

There is no such thing as unlimited bandwidth and unlimited files. Also you spelled bandwidth incorrectly.

    Sorry Aerospace, you confused me.
Is this the right topic you're posting in?

No thanks moodle, it's kind of a personal project. If you have any suggestions though of what would look cool, please tell me.

I don't quite understand what you mean by that aero, but I did put "(No restrictions)" next to that, to better say what is meant. The server I'm hosting the app. says "unlimited bandwidth" and I'm not restricting anything, although you probably are right because at a certain point the DB and php code will be overloaded from too much content. If that's not your point, please explain more. Besides if someone does start to throw out of control amounts of content in, I'll change it to a limit.

Thanks for the spell correction though.

Yes thats my point. It will run out eventually but if you intend to put a cap if things get out of hand then okay just saying its likely you don't have terabytes or storage or terabytes of bandwidth.

And yes Moodle I'm posting in the right thread.
