Please Evaluate My new site design

It currently is at: http://chantrybee.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/newsite/ and the old one is at http://chantrybee.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/.

None of the links work as of yet because I have only done that page atm. If you could reply with your comments (how i could improve it in any way) and what you think i would be much greatfull thanks.

It's better then the first design. but it needs more color, all this yellow is hurting my eyes!lol.

    - Add a background color to the navigation and around the text areas. Just this would help a lot!

    - The font size thing is useless, U can manualy change the font size with your browser. IE may not let you if u changed the default font sizes with px, but if you use em instead of px then it will.

    Hi Philip,

I think the font size selector should be underneath your banner. Right now it looks like it's the most important thing. You also need to add the company name to the banner or (under or over it) and make it bigger.

A bit picky, here, but while I like the honeycomb background, it's been condensed so the hexagons aren't keeping their shape. Makes me think of fishnet stockings. Sorry. Just an impression.

I like the photos. Maybe lighten the yellow background behind the text and make it more pastel. Overall a good start. It loaded quickly in FF.

I like your site especially as i am also a Beekeeper, nice to see you are using National hives, or could they be Commercial?
Myself, a dozen National and, a couple of WBC's at my home address and as for honey, the year started good and is now crap, no flow from the Lime tree, what is left? maybe Blackberry and Heather which is coming into flower now, that is if the weather changes for the better, sorry if my post is off topic but couldnt resist replying to a fellow beekeeper from almost my neck of the woods (New Forest Hants)

Hey, sorry to disapoint, but my old man is the bee keeper. I think their a mixture of both comercial and national. He has 16 hives over two sites. This year has been shocking! Have you got a site?

hows the colours on your eyes now? The font size thingy is designed to demonstrate, the posibility of switchin stylesheets for users with sight imparments, and so is usless in general use, but i have plans for thatn any way.

    Hi Philip,

The text selector is best where it is i think, because a tool like tht, is designed mainly for people with sight imparments, and all sites that use the same, have it top right. Agree with you that it stuck out like a sore thumb, but thanks to you other sugestion, i think that it fits in better now next to the name.

The background has been sorted and text boxes have been added.

Hi Phil, Yes, do have a site but not about bees, as for the weather, lets hope next year is a big improvement on this one.

Phil, had a look at your site again, everything works as it should in Opera, don't know about IE as i don't use it, must say your design is quite clean looking and easy on the eye and above all its easy to find your way around.

    Hi
Like the site. Your products page is just a reproduction of what is on your home page. Do you need it?
It will be interesting to see how much spam email you get as the email address is very accessible to spambots

Hi, just went to visit your site again and got an Error 403 message. I guess you're working on this now?

Anyway, the yellow looks good and the honeycomb shapes are much nicer. I think the name is a tad large, but the font size tool doesn't look as out of place with the name next to it.

Thanks for all the feedback so far (the good and the bad)

The product page is the same as the home page, but the home page will change, when i've done some more work, so its more something to look at atm. Also the menu looks abit sparse with out the product page ;-)

I havn't had a proper chance to view it on other computers with different browsers, screen res, and screen size, but when i have a sufficiant range of results, i will tweek it about a bit, ie defualt text sizes ect.

Here is a though tho, what about diff stylesheets for diff screen res? could be a nice little javascript app to write.

A few of you are still visiting my site, which is godd, but keep getting 403 errors, (stat counter is telling me). I have corrected this problem. The links at the top of the page are incorrect, the proper link is www.chantrybeeproducts.co.nr. I cannot edit the links.
