Lightbulb Partner needed for browser based multiplayer crime game

    Hi there

I'm currently designing a project to create a new text-based, turn-based, online browser game / real time strategy / multiplayer crime game. It will combine aspects of the classic board game Risk, but on a more street level scenario such as Grand Theft Auto.

It's much simpler than it sounds, and doesn't require any animation, 3D or much else fancy. What we do need is solid engines which will work, to calculate chances of winning, gambling engines, economies etc.

I have most of the project planned out, and have a graphics designer onboard already.

My background is not development but in IT, i work as an Infrastructure Engineer, supporting financial services with their high-availability server back-ends and systems. I also have experience with hosting and websites, having previously owned several profit earning sites from ad revenue, and a website hosting site.

I'm not creating a game because i want to play it, i want to create the game to

    a) Build a piece of history
    b) Form a team & engine platform for many future releases
    c) Turn it into a business and monetise the game

I'm looking for a lead developer to help build the game's engines, my thoughts are in PHP but open to suggestions. I have hosting and domains already bought.
I have lots of experience in servers and systems, SEO, websites etc. However my coding skills are limited to basic HTML, and scripting needed for work.

    My role would include
    a) Content development
    b) Marketing / Strategy
    c) Business / Monetisation
    d) Organisation, project management
    e) Funding costs
    f) etc.

There is huge potential for high revenue generation from such a game, so the position of lead developer / partner would of course be subject to a revenue sharing situation.

If you are interested, i would love to talk to you. Ideally you will be based in the UK or in a timezone similar, however i am open to everything.

    Please message me on here.

    Thanks

    Hello,

It sounds interesting and I 'd like to be involved on that.

I do have a lot of experience in System Administration as well (since mid 90's) but I focused on programming after leaving my CTO job back in 2008 deciding to run my own dev. business.

I program mainly in C# / MSSQL / Javascript with a lot of AS3 (flash) development during the last 8 years and I am located in Athens.

I sent you a PM with my contact info in case you are interested to discuss more.

    Thanks,

    Paul

I've told the same thing to dozens of people. The mafia/crime game has close to 1 million copies on the internet. The script has become free and it's not worth using. Save yourself headache and start from scratch.

Hi, thanks for the advice. We are in no way planning on using someone elses script as we are creating something that differs from the generic game out there (otherwise what would be the point). I dont think i hinted that we would be using a pre-made script either.
But yes i am aware of the fact there are lots of mafia games, and lots of demand for them. We are making the game very different from the generic versions, fundamentally different.

So what all do you guys still need? Also how's payment/profit sharing going to work? Will coders be paid hourly or will we have a stake in the site?

Hi Infect, thanks for the interest. Could you PM me your Skype details so we can discuss? It really depends on what skills you have and how much input you can have, as to what return and what we agree. It's best discussed over Skype if possible.

    Thanks
    Adam
