but I noticed the xml file also updated, ran it the second time and was fine, how often does YT change that cipher?
On what OS did you install Apache and PHP? Is cPanel/WHM installed? Did you install PHP from a repository or build PHP yourself? Are you using a XAMPP/WAMP setup?

I haven't checked recently when exactly YouTube is updating encryption (because everything is automated now), but in the past, they would generally do this 2-3 times during the week, Monday through Friday. Never on weekends. Usually on Monday/Tuesday, Thursday/Friday.

So it's possible YouTube had "just" changed encryption prior to your download error, and then the auto-update feature immediately fixed the problem. So you were at the right place, at the right time...

    Hello,

i wonder if you could explain how you found out their algos?
I mean the data for the software.xml.

    Thank you

    Hi,

Yes, the decryption algos are in the HTML5 player and SWF Flash player. Extraction is easier via the HTML5 player JS file, but I'm not sure if all YouTube videos have switched over to HTML5 just yet (meaning you might still need to dig around in the Flash player for some videos). You will know which decryption code corresponds to which signature length by checking the signature length in the corresponding video page or vidinfo page source code.

That said, why would you want to go to the trouble of doing all this 2-3 times a week when my system automates algo extraction for you?

    Hey,

ell but it looks like that there is only one algorythmus at the time.

For example the current one is stored in the xxxxvflQdXVwM.js file. All the videos i have tried use this file. So i guess there is no need to check their signature lenghts. That would also explain why i was unable to find the signatur lengths in the js file.

I need that for a own project, and i don't think that it would be fair to use your work for that.

The free version of my software is in fact free (and thus "fair to use"), so I encourage you to take advantage of the resources that are readily available to you.

But you can of course do things the hard way if that is your prerogative...

Edit: As long as you are only using the free version, and not the commercial version, of my software to supplement your project's code !!

Wow that's a word. Thank you very much.

Since i'm a curious person i would like to know if your system is fully automated? Do you need to do anything manually if YouTube decides to change something?

    Thanks

FYI - See my recent edit above about using my code in your project (repeated here):
Edit: As long as you are only using the free version, and not the commercial version, of my software to supplement your project's code !!
    My system is fully automated.

However, if YouTube were to change something on their site (i.e., the manner of encryption or location of decryption algos), then there is no amount of automation that can anticipate and address such a change. At that point, manual intervention would be required to fix my auto-update system.

Yeah i saw the edit. Unfortunately i can't find a edit button. I would just use the algo, nothing else.

Well i guess you use some regex to get the algo out from the js file?

    Thanks

Would you mind to post that regex pattern?

    # Edit: I already did it with some "explode" stuff, but i guess the regex solution is still more viable :P

Thumbs up new version of index.php

I have purchased the new version! I have the last version in the index.php this line changed / installed

    Code:
    <p><input type = "text" id = "videoURL" name = "videoURL" value = "http://www.youtube.com/watch ? v = <php echo $ _GET ['file'];?> "/> </ p>
    original:

    Code:
    <p> <input type="text" id="videoURL" name="videoURL" /> </ p>
where I can make the new version now?

I can do this without problems?

    many thanks for the help!

    Hi,

That is line 309 of index.php (in my editor):

    <p dir="ltr"><input type="text" id="videoURL" name="videoURL" /></p>
I don't see any reason why you couldn't add a default value to the text box, and thereby modify the default code above. This shouldn't cause you any problems.
