    form data retrieval and display

My client would like to be able to see and print form inquiries like the HTML/PHP form the visitor used. In other words have the existing form(s) populated with data the user submitted or have the user submissions saved or emailed as an HTML page that looks like the form with fields autopopulated with form data.

Any help, tutorials, scripts, would be tremedously appreciated.

Can you use a MySQL database for this project?

If you can, you can just create a new row in a table for each form submission's answers....

Then on an admin (password-protected) page somewhere, your client can populate an empty copy of the form with whichever row they choose from the database.....then I suppose they can just print the browser screen from there....

I could create a db of the form fields but I'm trying to avoid that because the form is very lengthy. Any other solutions out there?

Is there a front end app anyone knows of to design XML doc? The reason I ask is the PHP form data is saved as XML data.

If all of the form data is saved in an XML document, then just parse the XML file in the same way that you would access a database, extract the data, and populate an empty copy of the HTML form like I was saying earlier.

Do you not know how to parse XML? You can use PHP to parse the XML, so it sounds like you just need to learn how to do that or find yourself a script that will do it for you.

See if you can find something in one of these places:

Thanks for the reply, I was hoping that there may be quicker way than learning XML parsing and coding. Code is not my forte. Whenever possible I look for front end apps that generate the code so I don't have to.

Any front end apps that would help me accomplish this?

I personally dont know of any out-of-the-box solutions for your situation.

Also, FYI: I think you'll find that you won;t get much more help with this post if you don;t express an interest in doing any coding. This is a "coding" forum, remember?

I appreciate your help and candidness, I do code, just not well. I'm better at using front end apps like CodeCharge and then modifying that code. And I'm new to xml so learning another language isn't something i've got a lot of time for.

thanks much, I may try the XML forum
