Resize an image from a string

What I need to be able to do is scan a string for [img][/img] tags.
Inside the tags will be a link to an image.

What I want to be able to do is take that link and proportionally resize that image link to fit nicely within the borders so it doesn't stretch the boreders out.

    Anyone have any ideas?

Finding the url to the image inside those BB tags would be easy. But what do you mean by "proportionally resize that image link to fit nicely within the borders so it doesn't stretch the boreders out" ?

I think he means putting a restriction on the size of the image when it's displayed... So instead of a 1869x985 photo it would be shown as something 200x*. Or so, that's what I got from it.

Yes that's what I mean! I want to be able to limit the width of the image to around 450pixels!

I know how to resize pictures just need to know how to get the text between the bb tags and call the function to resize the image
