Question parse mbox file without imap support?

My hosting provider has not compiled IMAP support into their PHP setup, and I need to access an mbox mailbox to parse the headers/body for keywords and take action (delete, forward, autoreply) based on what I find (or don't find).

Any assistance on this would be groovy. Haven't found any info on this OTHER than with imap_xxxx() functions, and I don't have access to that.

    Thanks,

I assume that this will vary depending on host/mailserver etc ...

but on my box my `inbox` is available as plaintext at /home/user/mail/inbox

now I would'nt fancy parsing that myself but it is obviously parsable , so perhaps load and parse that ?

<edit>I would not call a host who does/would not enable common, stable modules as a real PHP host </edit>

    resistance is...

MVC is the current buzz in web application architectures. It comes from event-driven desktop application design and doesn't fit into web application design very well. But luckily nobody really knows what MVC means, so we can call our presentation layer separation mechanism MVC and move on. (Rasmus Lerdorf)
