Is PHP-FPM different from FastCGI /w Nginx for PHP?

I am not that familiar with this.I have read that PHP-FPM is an alternative PHP FastCGI implementation. Is it different from Nginx? Which is better between the two if they are different?

yes. Nginx is a server software, not a FastCGI implementation.
