And what exactly would be the advantages of notepad over PhpEdit or other editers?

I honestly don't see why anyone would use notepad if there are so much free editors with colour-coding, build in debuggers, autocomplete functions etc etc.
Notepad doesn't even have a linecount so it's terrible for debugging purposes.

Why not use copycon and move to before the windows-area ?

    It does have line count..

ctrl + g, type in 99999999, click ok, it will say invalid then give you the last line number :-)

    Debugging, who needs it?
Auto complete is more annoying than useful.
Coloring, ok well that I want in notepad and am working on it, Rogue is doing all / most of the work for coloring heh...

    I like http://www.editplus.com

& mostly like maguma studio http://www.maguma.com/download.php , mainly for its class browser and auto-docs (has a buggy debugger & the odd quirk but still more useful than Zend Studio)
    resistance is...

MVC is the current buzz in web application architectures. It comes from event-driven desktop application design and doesn't fit into web application design very well. But luckily nobody really knows what MVC means, so we can call our presentation layer separation mechanism MVC and move on. (Rasmus Lerdorf)

Arrghh, I'm sensing a bit of mattover-matter in you!
What kind of an attitude is that?

    Everyone needs to debug!
Auto complete is extremely useful, I find the best setup for it is ctrl+space for listing all completions and shift+ctrl+space for completion of arguments in a function call when you forget the parameters.

Do you mean to say you are adding syntax coloring to notepad? Well, call me crazy but I think it is a Edit class with ES_MULTILINE not a Richedit control, therefore making it pretty damn hard if not completely impossible.. As far as I know you can't easily subclass an edit control and add syntax coloring.... I mean I can make a whole editor in less code I'm sure!
