    php + win application

    i have a 3 party win application (no code just exe).

    apache and php installed on same machine

    is there any way i can interact with this sw from my php scripts

    means send some data and collect output ?

    possible ?

    depends on the app , if its a command line application you can exec() it at grab the returned results , but only if it produces output to stdout or to file ... eg

    <?
    exec( 'dir' , $yaks ) ;
    print_r( $yaks ) ;
    ?>

    or you can use the COM extension to talk to some windows applications , but documentation is scarce and unless you already have say VB COM experience its an uphill struggle (to change soon we hope with a combined win32_std extension)

    MVC is the current buzz in web application architectures. It comes from event-driven desktop application design and doesn't fit into web application design very well. But luckily nobody really knows what MVC means, so we can call our presentation layer separation mechanism MVC and move on. (Rasmus Lerdorf)
