    trying to bring a site onto a WAMP server

    I would appreciate any help. I am a novice still, trying to bring a friend's PHP site onto my WAMP server.

    I am getting error messages relating to what I think is defining my WEB ROOT and APP ROOT statements in my index file.
    I think my WAMP server on Windows is configured correctly. I have an alias in Apache for the site.

    My page code starts like this:
    ---------------------------
    PHP Code:
    <?
       $APP_ROOT
    "";

    $TITLE "";

    $FILE __FILE__;
       include(
    $APP_ROOT."include/header.php");
       include(
    $APP_ROOT."include/nav.php");

    #content begins here
    ?>
    <table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="557" bgcolor="#ffffff">
         <tr>
              <td><img src="<?=$WEB_ROOT;?>images/spacer.gif" alt=""
    etc etc
    The browser shows :

    Notice: Undefined variable: WEB_ROOT in D:\wamp\www\russell\index.php on line 13
    Call Stack
    # Time Memory Function Location
    1 0.0002 141304 {main}( ) ..\index.php:0
    images/spacer.gif" alt="" width="39" height="15" border="0"> ( ! ) Notice: Undefined variable: WEB_ROOT in D:\wamp\www\russell\index.php on line 14 Call Stack #TimeMemoryFunctionLocation 10.0002141304{main}( )..\index.php:0 etc,etc.

    I do not know how or where to define my WEB_ROOT, which I guess is my first problem.

    Unfortunately, like you, we haven't a clue what WEB_ROOT is. Creating it would be as simple as $WEB_ROOT = '';, but without knowing what it is, then it's tough to tell you what to declare it as. Getting rid of an error is one thing, but making it work is a completely different thing.
    If you know what the system is, you can post that and someone that has used it may be able to give you an idea. I would presume you are either missing an inclusion here, or that the original site used something like auto_prepend_file to get additional includes into the script.
