can php call another php script

I have a forms page which allows several options to fill in. When most are clicked, a new page is created and if you want to go further investigating the data, you click again on url links that are embedded in this new page. However, there is one option on the original html page that I would like to go from the 1st php script and then to the 2nd php script without a screen paint or click in between. If my 1st php cannot "call" the 2nd php, I have to duplicate all the code in the 2nd php script and put it in the 1st php script. If things change, then I have 2 places to change rather than one. This is really more like plain old C programming. Is it possible?

Normally a user would use form to search on a particular filer id. That pops up a screen with the filer's filed report llisted. Now the user clicks on the particular report to see the data. However, if the user already knows the report number, I am trying to use the first form search to allow a report number and once search on report number is clicked, have the 1st php kickoff the 2nd php where the report display function resides. Otherwise, I replicate report display code from 2nd php to first php. The form search calls the 1st php.

I don't have an example for you, but you'll be looking for AJAX,
which is a combination of Javascripting and PHP.
