    Need help configuring a php blog thing.

    I have downloaded the blog software off this site http://wordpress.org/

    firstly, is this the best to use or are there any other good ones?

    I downloaded the documents needed and then uploaded them to my web server. I am suppost to edit a txt file in order to get in working but I cant seem to get it working. Below is the text file I am suppost to edit. Anyone tell me what I need to put? And below is a pic on my web host CP for MySQL4.

    // ** MySQL settings ** //
    define('BWOnline_blogger', 'wordpress'); // The name of the database
    define('bwall', 'username'); // Your MySQL username
    define('orange', 'password'); // ...and password
    define('sql02', 'localhost'); // 99% chance you won't need to change this value

    // You can have multiple installations in one database if you give each a unique prefix
    $table_prefix = 'wp_'; // Only numbers, letters, and underscores please!

    // Change this to localize WordPress. A corresponding MO file for the
    // chosen language must be installed to wp-includes/languages.
    // For example, install de.mo to wp-includes/languages and set WPLANG to 'de'
    // to enable German language support.
    define ('WPLANG', '');

    /* That's all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */

    define('ABSPATH', dirname(__FILE__).'/');

    I did not read every line in the file you posted, but the first few lines are incorrect. Start over and change the bold values on the right-hand side -
    define('DB_NAME', 'wordpress'); // The name of the database
    define('DB_USER', 'username'); // Your MySQL username
    define('DB_PASSWORD', 'password'); // ...and password
    define('DB_HOST', 'localhost');
    If you are learning PHP, developing PHP code, or debugging PHP code, do yourself a favor and check your web server log for errors and/or turn on full PHP error reporting in php.ini or in a .htaccess file to get PHP to help you.

    You will need to add a database user. After doing so you should have everything you need. It seems your database name is blogger not wordpress. You probably shouldn't need to change localhost, on some web hosts you might have to though.
