    Script Update Checker

    Hey Guys,

I am currently developing a new version of an online DJ Panel that I created and want to incorporate an update notification system/page. Basically I just want it to alert the user if an update is available....

I have been looking around and have found that the supposed best way to do this would be by a text file stored on my web server that the script checks using fopen or file_get_contents, would this be the best way to try and do this?

Any opinions are welcome! Just looking for advice. Thanks!

Yeah, that's pretty much the best way. You'll probably want to have the script compare it's version against it and tell the user they need to upgrade with a short message.
