    windows2000 server ----- perl script- COMPLETE

    looking for somone to write a cgi script (perl) to run on a Win200 server

    3/22/2005 --- not looking anymore. this project has been completed

    The basic jist of it is;

    --------------------------

    there would be a text box input text box. someone would type a word into the box and when they click the submit button it would take them to a specific web page. For instance if they type in xyz it would take them to http://www.mysite.com/compare/xyz.htm. (all the HTML files it might lead to would be in a specific folder... in this example /compare/)

    that's the easy part :-) , here's the hard part. IF the page xyz.htm, or ANY OTHER word they type in, doesn't exist, they would go another specific custom page (telling that that page doesn't exist bla bla bla), AND (here's what I think is the hardest part), needs to either log the word they searched for OR, more preferably, send me an email telling me of the word they searched for. Additionally, I'd like it to maintain a log file of the pages that are served up and the number of "hits" to each page (don't ask about basic log stats :-), I don't want to do it that way)

    ------------------------

    if this is osmething that you feel confident you can do, please email me and I'll give you the long version and we can work out a price

    andrew(at)rhtubs.com

    I'll post when and if I find someone, so you'll know the job's been taken care of.

    thank you for your time

    Perhaps you can open the requirements a bit - especially regarding the Perl part? I mean, is it of essential interest that the script is done in Perl and not some other language? From your description I'd say you might be equally happy if you got the script in PHP, ASP, JSP, Python... whatever as long as it solves your problem.

    My Perl knowledge is a little rusted, not having used it for some years, so if that's a definite requirement, I'm obviously out. But I could do the job easily in PHP.

    Perl I have a basic understanding of and am somewhat confidant I can get working on my server. PHP, ASP, JSP, Python, I haven't a clue about.... (unless you're talking Monty Phthon)

    It's probably a new tricks, old dog, kinda thing

    I did get an email form you, but it was after my 2 posts above. I did respond to you this morning. Possible some anti-spam stuff filtered out an email somewhere.

    Anyway, I emailed you the "long" description of what I,m hoping to do, and I look forward to your reply.
