    .htaccess .htpasswd difficulty

    This is driving me nuts. I wanted to have a directory password proetected. So I set up .htaccess in that directory, and pointed to a .htpasswd on a directory above it. I got the apssword proetection to work, once I did chmod 744 to both of these files. It was working fine. Then a couple of hours later, I tried it again, and it no longer worked. So I figured, naturally, I must not ahve remembered the password right. So I changed the password. Still no luck. I erased the .htpasswd file and recreated it - no luck.
    Here is what the .htaccess file looks like (it is in /home/bluex/public_html/access/today/ ):

    DirectoryIndex index.php3

    AuthUserFile /home/bluex/public_html/access/.htpasswd
    AuthGroupFile /dev/null
    AuthName "Whateer"
    AuthType Basic

    <Limit GET POST>
    require user daily
    </Limit>

    In the directory: /home/bluex/public_html/access/
    I have the file .htpasswd and it contians a record showing "user" and an ecrypted password.

    But when I enter user "daily" and the password, I am denied access. Why might that be?

    This really doesn't have anything to do with PHP. I will move this to the General Server Side forum.

    Please ignore, as I seem to have solved the problem. I had the user saved in the windows dialogue box, and there must have been something wrong in there, as once I wiped it clean, i got back in ok. You could jsut remove this thread, to save people from reading it.
