first programming language? I'm overwhelmed...
Ok, here's the deal. I've been working with this company who uses Cold Fusion to maintain websites. Now, I'm decent enough with the xhtml to maintain a site and ftp changes just as fast as using an admin front end (for these size sites, anyway), but the server doesn't have ftp. So, I figure I'll just take matters into my own hands and learn this CF stuff.
Ah, but then I start thinking, "As long as I'm learning a programming language, why don't I learn PHP first? That seems more useable in the long run, and then I can get MySql out of the way, too."
And then I say, "I'm so freakin' confused, and Google isn't helping for once because there's a little TOO much information available, enough to make me unsure of where to start."
So, any ideas from the CF community here on a good language/place to take the programming plunge? The only experience I've had programming was a decent amount of BASIC on my Tandy Color Computer 3...
