    SSI from outside server

    How do I use a server side include to include a file from another server?

    I have tried

    <!--#include file="http://www.mydomain.com/stuff.asp" -->

    I get this error

    HTTP/1.1 404 Object Not Found Server: Microsoft-IIS/5.0 Date: Thu, 17 Jul 2003 19:25:41 GMT X-Powered-By: ASP.NET Connection: close Content-Type: text/html
    404 Object Not Found

    Please help!!!

    is it your server? cause if it isn't then they might be running some .htaccess that is preventing you from accessing their stuff for includes...

    NOTE: you supplied a URL not a path to the file, you might try using the IP address instead of the URL. Otherwise I don't know.

    The "file=" url is supposed to point at a resource inside the directory structure of your web site. It's not a place where you can use a URL as you're trying to do.

    Assuming that the referenced site is truly yours and is actually on your network you can create a "virtual directory" to it via the MMC and then you can create a proper reference to it for SSI.
    Check out the Forum Search. It's the short path to getting great results from this forum.

    Clarification

    What it is is we have a page on our site that we update daily with news items and other people want to include it in their sites.

    I got the SSI to work on my server, but when I post it to a different server to pull that page up, it doesn't work.

    you can store that news in an xml-file. Others can then include the content (the news) like
    <xml ID=mynews SRC"http://your.domain.com/blabla.xml"></XML>

    They can then use there own XSL to wrap it in the style they use for there site, to really incorporate it.

    Run some searches on google for 'databroker' or 'databrokering' etc
