    Image Impressions?

How would this work, and what language would you do it in?

Say you have a picture on your website.

Then you want to get the number of times that image has been viewed by other people, no matter where they viewed it. (ie someone copies the link from your server to the image, and puts it on another server)

Would you run it with cookies? Every impression would download something into the temp, and keep count in the temp folder, and then send it back to the server??

How would you set something up like that, and what language would you do it in?

as long as your server is serving out the image you can track it very easily by looking at the access logs and finding out how many times that particular image was served...you might even find some access log parsers out there...i use a simple perl script
