    Help - Mysql row locking

    Good day everyone.

I have no real knowledge of MySQL, i have a website that uses an open source php and mysql script.
Its an genealogy script for dog pedigrees.

I need your help, what i want to do exactly is run a Query that locks a row from not being edited until i physically unlock it.

I only want users to view the dog pedigree, but not be able to edit or update it.
any help would be appreciated .
    Thank you

That's more of a php logic/coding issue than a mysql issue.

You could add a boolean "readonly" field and only allow updates to that row based on the value of that readonly field.
