I downloaded a version of MySQL

But it's just folders and things, I'm not sure what to do with MySQL but I do need a signup/login and account system for my website but I'm not really sure what I'm doing with mySQL... I just know I need it to do what I want to do.

Which version? For windows or linux?

If for windows, if you didn't download the self-installing version then toss it out and try again.

    Go here:
    http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/5.5.html
and click on the "Windows (x86, 64-bit), MSI Installer" download (or use the 32-bit version if you are still on a 32-bit version of Windows).
