    right syntax to use near '

    I must be getting burnt.

    Query failed: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'from, subject, message, status) VALUES('sup01', 'orgadmin', 'dffgd', 'sdffdf', '' at line 1

    is generated from running:
    PHP Code:
    $sendTo $_POST['sendTo'];
    $subject $_POST['subject'];
    $message $_POST['message'];
    $from $_SESSION['username'];
    $status 'unread';

    $sql="INSERT INTO $tbl_name (sendTo, from, subject, message, status) VALUES('$sendTo', '$from', '$subject', '$message', '$status')";
    $result=mysql_query($sql) or die ("Query failed: " mysql_error());

    // if successfully insert data into database, displays message "Successful".
    if($result){
    echo
    "Successfully sent message";
    echo
    "<BR>";
    echo
    "<a href=\"javascript:history.go(-1)\">go back to the last page</a>";
    }

    else {
    echo
    "ERROR";

    This isn't a PHP error.
    FROM is a reserved word. If you use it as a field, then you must surround it with the backtick (`) character.
