    viewing offline?

First: I have no experience at all with MySQL. I don't know what it is or what it does, except that it is making my life difficult!

I have been asked to take over a website. The old site is WordPress-based.

The company has decided to change hosts and I am to work on an all-new WordPress-based site on the new host.

Before I was able to gather all the information needed from the old site, the computer guy switched the domain name to the new host. So now I cannot access the WordPress backend on the old host.

I have downloaded the mySQL database, but have no idea how to view it.

I tried to upload it to the new host, using phpMyAdmin, but I keep getting an error message.

I thought if there was a free Windows-based program that I could use to just view the information that is in the database I could get on with it. But I don't know what I am looking for. I have tried a couple but they either don't work or can't access the file, which is on my computer.

I really only need the text from the pages of the old site - no formatting or images or anything like that. I feel like that should be easy, but so far - for me - it has not been....

    Can anyone help?

Check the lines in the DB dump that begins with
    INSERT into wp_posts
(the prefix may not be wp_)
    See http://codex.wordpress.org/Database_...Table_Overview
