    Post Buttons and Textareas

I'm new here but I need some help. I was directed here by a friend who said this place has lots of useful information, so I hope someone can help.
First off my script can be found here.
I'm working on a module for PHP to have minutes be added to be displayed on a page, but the Javascript is where I need the help with. There's some buttons at the top of the textarea, and when clicked I want them to place an ASCII symbol inside the textarea so theres some formatting to the minutes. The ASCII for the buttons resolves in the page to the proper look, but the javascript places them in the textarea as the HTML code for them, like ».
I don't know if I worded that well enough, kindof hard to describe it. The link to the file can be saved as an html, cause the HTML is there (very minimal).

Also on a side note, Internet Explorer detects that code as like malacious Active X stuff. Why is that and what can I do to stop that?

Well, you can store the actual symbols in the array, or their decimal, hex, or unicode equivalents, or just send the button's value to the function, instead.

As for IE, these links may be relevant: http://www.codingforums.com/showpost...50&postcount=2
