put them into a hidden flash movie, then use JS to manipulate that. simple.

you can find plenty of info on JS manipulating Flash on this site, using the search, or at Google.

    good luck.

well, as someone who knows a lot of JS and a little Flash, but not enough pertaining to the question, I'd first of all get Flash or Swish (demos or otherwise) and see how to play back sounds. then i'd google for JS methods on how to control the movie. there examples on here and it's come up quite a lot recently though for different reasons to your own.

i'd love to help you more, but I can't. you'll have to learn the Flash for yourself. as for JS controlling it, here's what the Forum has to offer:

A few years ago when I was in my "JavaScript Programming" college class I asked my professor if preloading sounds with Javascript is possible? He said no...so I set out to prove him wrong.

After a week or so of random sound control research, I finally did come up with a script that would preload/change background sounds in IE and Netscape. (Although Netscape is very buggy and doesn't always work) If you would like the source code of this script, let me know.

By the way, what do you need to preload sounds for anyways? It will drastically slow down the navigation of your site while the sounds are preloading....a lot of people dont like that. Just a thought.

sounds interesting, at least academically if not practically. do you know you can post pre-made, ready-2-go scripts in the
Post a Javascript Forum. it would be nice to see how you did it, thanks.

    jaywhy13:

I made a post on the Post A Javacript Forum that you might be interested in. It's entitled Image Flip With Sound. It preloads images and sound but you can "cut off" the script so it will just load sound.
The link to that post is here.
