(i don't really care, but i noticed you took a while to get back to us, so it's hard to blame us for any un-resolved issues)
I appreciate everyone's help with this. I found the solution before I came back here and saw your post so I never needed to try your solution. Just what unresolved issues am I blaming anyone for?

i'm glad you got it up and running.
it's not a big deal, people get busy, including us.

we're usually pretty nice around here, but nobody likes to have their efforts discarded and not be told what's wrong with it until after they are informed it's not needed...
next time, please try to give us a heads up a little sooner so we can remedy outstanding issues or give up altogether if you find a resolution.

No, of course you are not obliged to take my advice. No more than you are obliged to take the advice of your doctor, dentist, car mechanic or any other professional. But the only problem with that attitude is that the guys will lose interest in you, and future requests for assistance or treatment are likely to be ignored.

All the code given in this post has been tested and is intended to address the question asked.
Unless stated otherwise it is not just a demonstration.

I think I get it. People are free to not take your advice, but if they don't, they will be ignored in the future. When I told you what I didn't like about the alternative script you offered you came back with the sarcastic comment "Oh dear! Sorry for the double digits!". You also said it would take "considerable" modifications to make the original script do what I wanted. You apparently have an inflated perception of your "professional" javascript expertise as another person was able to fix the script almost instantly.

In the future you might just try to help a person with what they want to do instead of insisting they do things your way and getting upset when they don't. Do me a favor Philip. If I ever post a question here again... please ignore it.

You are quite right and I owe you an apology. I did not study your script as closely as I should have done and jumped to a wrong conclusion based on the first few (rather strange) lines. My suggestion in post#2 was based on this wrong reading. In fact the simple additional line days=0 would have solved your problem, but I somehow thought that was too simple and obvious and the problem must be deeper than that. I should have tested it further. But your response to my offered alternative script was simply silly - you could very easily have modified it to change the output as you require.

As rndme remarked, "We're usually pretty nice around here, but nobody likes to have their efforts discarded and not be told what's wrong with it until after they are informed it's not needed..."

I guess the real underlying problem is asking for help from one source, and also from another source at the same time. That way people get at cross-purposes. That is why we do not like posting in multiple forums.
