if left mouse button is down (n00b)

could someone quick show me how to write a conditional javascript function that queries the current state of left mouse button when the function is called.

you'd think even a noob would know this but i've never actually used it before, and i cant seem to find the answer.

    THANKS!

You can't check the current status of a mouse button but you can be informed when it changes and maintain that status yourself.
