    using the document.write("")

    on using document.write(" ") i have found it deletes any other buttons or writing on the page is there any way to get around this ( to stop it deleting other stuff)>

    The document.right method overwrites the existing page except during the initial load.

    If you want to put something in the page after the load, then use a layer:

    <div id="anyid">
    </div>

    then use document.getElementById('anyid').innerHTML="some value";

    instead of document.write
