    Internet Explore(IE) new tab issue

I am wondering is it possible for javascript to force the window to close the old tab in IE after the user click on "Add New Tab" button ?

e.g. when i click to add new tab, then the old tab i am viewing should be forced to close without asking the users' opinion.

I have tried to search for information about this online but none information can be found.

If yes, can you provide me some tutorial or guideline on how to do it ?

    Thanks for helping.

Not possible. It is for the user to decide whether to open/close windows and tabs.

Quizmaster: Sofia is the capital of which central European country?
    Contestant: Bolivia.

All the code given in this post has been tested and is intended to address the question asked.
Unless stated otherwise it is not just a demonstration.
