An included js file does not like to clear out of cache

I'm using a 3rd party text editor which is configured using js files. The trouble is, any time I make a change to the config file, the browser (both Firefox and IE) refuses to clear the old config file out of cache and recognize the updated file. I have to manually type the path to the config file into the URL to bring up the js file and hit REFRESH, which finally brings in the newest version.

Is there any way to help the browser understand there is a new file? I've tried all kinds of "no cache"-type header commands and none have worked so far.

I think that you must force refresh of the main page not that JS file..

    Try this headers:

    Code:
        Cache-Control: no-cache, must-revalidate
        Expires: Mon, 26 Jul 1997 05:00:00 GMT
