    Building A Stats App

    Hi all,

This is a pretty cool stats app http://www.haveamint.com, was wondering would it be fairly hard to do? Not all the flashy/pretty stuff but the actual coding. I posted in here because it says you need PHP and MySQL to run it so I assumed it was done in PHP... Can anyone give me any feedback? I looked furhter into it and noticed it works by using JavaScript... Anyone know how it works?

Looks like a fancy hit counter to me. I can't imagine its worth £30. To get information about your visitior php has a HTTP_USER_AGENT that can be used to get information about users. A good place to start is reading the Server variables: $_SERVER section of php.net. What you would do is use some of the methods used on this URL, but inserting the user data to an SQL data base (something which is a breeze with PHP). Then providing functions to display and summarise the data within the SQL database. Mint have obviouly provided many ways of representing the data such as charts, lists etc

You can not say you know how to do something, until you can teach it to someone else.
