    HTML MetaTags

    Hey guys,

    I'm trying to figure out what tags are needed to make search engines happy. I know you need a title tag and keywords and description, but what else after that?

    Also, I've been looking at the source of some bigger sites and noticed that most of them have some reference to w3org in the html tag. Why is that? Below is an example that I found. Thanks for all the help!

    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN"
    "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en">

    The first tag is the doctype, for more information on doctypes, see this thread: http://www.codingforums.com/showthread.php?t=18346
