    coding problem?

    Hi guys,

I got a problem. I intend to put a background music on my forum and decided to put the music in a popup. So whenever someone enters the web URL, the popup wil automatically pop up with the song automatically playing.

I've done the necessary codings and found 1 problem. In order for the popup to pop up, I'll need to type the URL plus the filename(e.g www.mrlavita.com/index.html) instead of just the URL (www.mrlavita.com). I've editted the javascript for the popup in the index.html file and at the same time has a code which redirects www.mrlavita.com to www.mrlavita.com/phpbb2 where the forum is.

I need the popup to pop up when I'm typing www.mrlavita.com only. How can I do that?

Any help is very much appreciated!

    Thanks!

The pop-up is being blocked by a pop-up blocker in both Firefox and Internet Explorer. Because you're using a redirect, the bar that indicates that a pop-up has been blocked disappears. You can either tell the user to allow pop-ups for your site and reload the page or to click a link that activates the pop-up so that the browser recognizes it as legitimate and doesn't block it. That's the price for website authors having abused pop-ups for advertisements.
For every complex problem, there is an answer that is clear, simple, and wrong.

I've actually input the URL in my firefox and IE to allow popups for this URL.
Seems the prob is ont with the popup blocker.
When u typed the URL http://www.mrlavita.com/index.html, the popup will pop out.But if you type just http://www.mrlavita.com, the popup doesn't pop out.

Okay, I just tried adding “mrlavita.com” to the pop-up blocker exceptions lists for Firefox 1.5 and Internet Explorer 7 RC1. I visited http://www.mrlavita.com/ in both browsers: prior to adding the exception, I would see the bar that indicates that a pop-up has been blocked; after adding the exception the pop-ups were initiated normally when visiting that URI . Maybe pop-ups are only showing for you at the URI http://www.mrlavita.com/index.html because you've been too specific and only disabled the blocker for that one page.

Try adding the mentioned entry to your pop-up blocker exception lists. I'm not sure how you would do this in Internet Explorer 6; perhaps you would add your website to the list of trusted sites.
