Quick question regarding a transparent div

If you made a div transparent by adding "filter:alpha(opacity=50);", is there a way to have the text in that div not transparent? So, only the background should be transparent, but the text should have an opacity of 100. Is this possible, and if so, how?

    Thanks in advance!

Susie, if you want to see your doll again, leave $100 in this envelope by the tree out front. Do NOT call the police. You CANNOT trace us. You CANNOT find us.

    Sincerely,
    - Calvin.
