    ok this is the code so far, i have removed the valign=bottom code since it never worked..

    <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">
    <tr>
    <td><img src="images/spid_splash1_01.gif"></td>
    <td background="images/spid_splash1_02.gif" width="100%"></td>
    <td><img src="images/spid_splash1_03.gif"></td>

    </tr>
    </table>

    so all im trying to do is position the table at the very bottom of my page, if that helps...

    hmmmmm...

    Well, there's the wrong way to do it, which involves tables and nesting and more... then there's the (or a, there are a few) right way(s), which is what I'm going to give you. If you are a newbie this may look a little wacky.

    Code:
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN"
            "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd">
    <html lang="en">
    <head>
    	<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8">
    	<title>Untitled</title>
    	<style type="text/css">

    		html, body	{
    			height: 100%;
    			margin: 0;
    			padding: 0;
    			}

    		table	{
    			position: absolute;
    			bottom: 0;
    			}

    	</style>
    </head>

    <body>
     <table width="100%" border="1" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">
      <tr>
       <td width="100" height="100"><img src="images/spid_splash1_01.gif"></td>
       <td background="images/spid_splash1_02.gif" width="100%"></td>
       <td><img src="images/spid_splash1_03.gif"></td>
      </tr>
     </table>
    </body>
    </html>
    Since you're just getting started in the web I'd suggest learning from sources that are a little more "up to date," such as:

    http://htmldog.com
    http://www.w3schools.com

    It'll help you get a better handle on the ways to position things and code your pages without having to dive into nested tables and hack markup.

    Hope this helps,
