Looks pretty much the same in IE vs Firefox for me. In both cases the image isn't transparent which is no surprise since it's a JPG file.

    Hi there mdempsey,

your .png image does not appear to be transparent

Try the attached one, which will work fine in Firefox and Opera but not I.E.

If you want it to work in I.E.. make it the .gif which will work in Firefox and Opera also

Maybe i wasn't clear enough. I dont need the central white bit to be transparent. The edges where the grey box has an outer glow needs to be transparent and fade into the background. It IS a .PNG 'Roy Sinclair', not a JPG.

Making it a gif clearly loses the quality of the glow and fade, which isnt what i want.

You sound a little jumpy, are you in a bad mood?

Did you know that Internet Explorer does not support alpha transparency in a PNG, so that it probably looks transparent in firefox but has a gray border around it in IE? I'm on a Mac, so I can't see it -- but I imagine your shadow isn't blending into the background on IE and it has an ugly gray instead. Javascript can force IE to support the PNG if that's what you'd like.
