    Simple question

    Hey everyone. first post. I am 1 year out of college and I hate what I'm doing and got the wrong degree lol great, right? so I'm teaching myself this stuff

    Question. I'm trying to wrap my head around the whole id and <div> thing, playing around with css... so things may seem unnecessary..sorry. . I'll paste my code below, but my question is..... How do I make these links not underlined, change the color and so on? I'm going for a simple footer to a website. I've tried text-decoration about everywhere. Thanks

    HTML
    Code:
    <table id="foot" table width="100%">
            <tr>
                <td>
                    <a href="http://www.google.com">Google</a>
                </td>
                <td>
                    <a href="http://www.yahoo.com">Yahoo!</a>
                </td>
                <td>
                    <a href="http://www.msn.com">MSN</a>
                </td>
            </tr>
        </table>
    and the CSS
    Code:
    #foot {
        font-size:25px;
        text-align:center;
        border-top:dashed;
        border-bottom:none;
        border-left:none;
        border-right:none;
        font-family: Verdana;
    }

    Hi there luke88,

    and a warm welcome to these forums.

    The "table element" should only be used for the display of tabular data.

    Try it like this instead...
    Code:

    <!DOCTYPE html>
    <html lang="en">
    <head>

    <meta charset="utf-8">

    <title>untitled document</title>

    <link rel="stylesheet"  href="/">

    <style>
    #foot {
        padding:0;
        margin:0;
        list-style-type:none;
        text-align:center;
     }
    #foot li {
        float:left;
        width:33.33%;
     }
    #foot a {
        border-top:2px dashed #000;
        font-family:verdana,sans-serif;
        font-size:25px;
        color:#000;
        text-decoration:none;

     }
    #foot a:hover {
        border-color:#f00;
        color:#f00;
     }
    </style>

    </head>
    <body>

    <ul id="foot">
     <li><a href="http://www.google.com">Google</a></li>
     <li><a href="http://www.yahoo.com">Yahoo!</a></li>
     <li><a href="http://www.msn.com">MSN</a></li>
    </ul>

    </body>
    </html>
