    Image not visible question

    If I have an image called stripe.png in a folder called images on my server (the path is correct), the following in my CSS

    Code:
    body {
      background: url(images/stripe.png) repeat;
    }
    or even

    Code:
    body {
      background: url("http://www.bayingwolf.com/Dima_Login/images/stripe.png") repeat;
    }
    and <body>HTML 5 script here</body> in my HTML page and that image is not visible (it is the page background), what is the likely cause, please?

    I can't see it through either IE10 or Safari.

    Thanks.

    Try this little change in your css
    Code:
    body {
      background: url(./images/stripe.png) repeat;
    }
    Try to load it localey from your server like this
    Code:
    body {
      background: url("./images/stripe.png") repeat;
    }

    Hello Op117

    Thank you for your reply.

    I changed my CSS from

    Code:
    body {
      background: url(images/stripe.png) repeat;
    }
    to

    Code:
    body {
      background: url(./images/stripe.png) repeat;
    }
    and opened it locally as an HTML file and then online. There was no change at all - the stripe.png still did not load.

    I then changed my CSS to:

    Code:
    body {
      background: url("./images/stripe.png") repeat;
    }
    and again tried to open it locally - and then online - but still no change: no background image loaded.

    I tried both with IE10 and Safari.

    I tried it out with absolute link and the image loads fine. Maybe the issue is that you are having multiple declarations in css and the last one called is getting more priority that the one you are modifying. Try putting background: url(images/stripe.png) repeat !important; or background: url("http://www.bayingwolf.com/Dima_Login/images/stripe.png") repeat !important;

    I don't really like using !important tags, see if you can find more background declarations

    OR

    You have a wrapper that has 100% width and height of body and has it's own background color or image. Body background would not be visible this way even though it is there.

    Can you paste the html code or complete css code?

    style3.csspassword1.txt

    Hello fixie

    Thanks again for your reply.

    Yes, I can try !important; - I shouldn't really need to, though, should I?

    I am attaching the files (password.txt - this is usually password.asp, but I cannot upload .asp files here - and style3.css).

    Can you see those files?

    Many thanks again for all your help.

    Is style3.css set on line 25 where body declaration is this: background: url(http://www.bayingwolf.com/Dima_Login/images/stripe.png) repeat;. It did the trick for me.

    Also set the closing tag } on password1.txt on line 30 and delete the one on the line 38

    Hello fixie

    IT WORKS!

    Thank you! I've been trying to resolve this for about 3 days!!

    I still can't understand why
    Code:
    background: url("./images/stripe.png") repeat;
    does not work but, hey, who cares!

    Thank you very much!

    Enjoy your night.

    Might want to fix following errors:

    HTML (Home page)
    CSS (Ignore any properly formed CSS3 rules flagged)

    Thanks Major Payne

    That home page was hacked last night so what you see there is not mine!

    I took my normal pages down and within 24hrs someone had hacked it - maybe an open port that was exploited.

    I am trying to resolve it at the moment, but thanks for drawing my attention to it.
