    Internet Explorer freezing up on my website. any help?

    Hello. I have a website at http://www.vacationocg.com/ which is a pretty simple site for a client that looks fine in Firefox, chrome and safari. But with internet explorer it just shows up the dark blue of the background and freezes up. I notice the files that it stops loading at are the images that are part of slider. I was just wondering if anyone knew of a potential reason for this.

    thanks so much.

    You might correct the coding errors on the page, IE can be picky about how errors are handled, so that could be the problem.

    works fine for me in IE9. try viewing in IE from another computer than the one youve been using. it might be a problem local to your system rather than the site.

    @tracknut I ran that tool, and realize that the third one down deals with the slider:

    Line 206, Column 110: Element style is missing required attribute scoped.
    …="width:940px;"><style type="text/css"> #top, .oneByOne {height:400px;} </styl…
    Attributes for element style:
    Global attributes
    media
    type
    scoped
    Also, the title attribute has special semantics on this element.

    I tried fixing the error, yet all it did when tried to fix it was delete the slider. I am a novice when it comes to coding, and to create the site I just modified all that I could out of the present, stock wordpress theme. I understand it enough to get it to the point that I like it, but of course i run into errors like these that are hard to figure out.

    @BuildMyWeb

    i tried it on a couple other machines and still got the same result. I also submitted the website to a couple sites that offer to display the website on different browsers, and a few different versions of IE came back either black or blue.

    I am also using IE 8 if that helps.

    thank you!

    After seeing the other posts saying it looked fine in IE, I took another look. The site drops the large set of changing images at the top, at smaller screen sizes. Did you know that? Any chance your IE browser is smaller than your FF one like mine was? Once I made my browser larger, the display in FF and IE are very similar.

    @tracknut yea i realize there are some resolution problems. i should have been aware of that while making the site. the screen size is the same on each of the browsers i am using but the main problem of it still not showing up in IE is still present. I initially found out about this problem when the client contacted me and said that he, on a remote computer was unable to access the site through IE. someone recommended using html5shiv in another forum, but unsure on the procedure.

    thank you for any help that is able to be provided!

    I entered the script into the header.php at the very top that is for IE8 and before (i am using Wordpress):

    <!--[if lt IE 9]>
    <script src="http://html5shim.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/html5.js"></script>
    <![endif]-->

    I put the script in the top of the header.php and it loads more than what it did before, but it is still freezing while trying to load the rest. Do you think i would have to put that in somewhere else as well other than just the header.php

    Found this fix at:
    http://www.designerkawch.com/337/html5-enabling-script/

    I have a test site that I am trying to fix prior to messing with the real one that is located at:

    thank you!
