share photos or list files in a directory. how?

    Hello
I want to share a couple hundred photos with a friend of mine so when i uploaded them under mywebsite.com/specificfolder and when i go there it gives me 404 error. so should i create an index page and put all the images there with <img ...> or what is the best way? remember there are about 260 photos so i can not type img that many times but the photos are in sequential numbered orders so is there a shortcut to type them? or even if they are able to click a link of the files it and download it, that would be okay too. in that case how do you just list the file names in a web directory (at the same time downloadable for each picture) thanks

Many web servers have directory listing turned on by default. That means if you go to http://www.website.com/images, you'll see a list of files inside that folder.

However, if that feature is turned off, you'll get an access denied error, not a 404 not found error. Are you sure you got a 404 and that the website address you went to is 100% correct?

I get this error, and yes I am sure the website address is correct:

    Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /myyfoldername/ on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Apache Server at www.mywebsitename.com Port 80
