    Table + IE7 + Tool Tip = Cutting off.

Anyone know why these tool tips get cut off in IE7? http://jsfiddle.net/TXntS/3/

Been trying to figure this out all day and I am baffled. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Hello ubh,
I raised the z-index number a bit and the tooltip showed up...
I think there are other issues affecting this as well - http://validator.w3.org/check?verbos...2FTXntS%2F3%2F
Validate often DURING development - Use it like a splelchecker | Debug during Development |Write it for FireFox, ignore IE
Use the right DocType | Validate your markup | Validate your CSS | Why validating is good | Why tables are bad

Excavator ~ I just tried to increase the z-index from 20 to 200 and even 2000 and the tool tip is still being cut off in IE7... you did check it out in IE7 right?

Also, although yes there are validation problems, the validation problems are not from any of the markup or css I wrote, but rather are from jsfiddle.net's markup set-up stuff. Even if I set-up an empty document like this: http://www.devinrolsen.com/calendar-problem.html that is valid, this IE7 issue still remains.

Please tell me if you indeed did test that z-index change in IE7, cause I'm not seeing it. Also, if you had it working why did you not hit save and send me back the updated version?

    Thanks Excavator.

Looking deeper it seems more than z-index. The Microsoft gradient filter on .calendar td.event seems to be covering the tooltip. Could be IE7 doesn't support that? It works with no gradient and a background color in it's place.

This is on the rendered version I get on my end, using IE9's emulation of IE7 ... editing with IE's Developer Tools. I'm not sure but I think that comes from your .js and may be difficult to edit on your end...

    See screencap here -

Looks like I need to document this bug for the rest of the our developers here at our shop cause, lol.. that is a weird one.

NOTE TO SELF: Be careful of gradient IE filters on a table cells, the table cell in IE7 will act as if it is overflow hidden.

Thanks a TON Excavator, you have done it again!
