Overflow in Safari but not Firefox

Okay... so this is problem all sorts of broken in IE (any of them) but I haven't gotten there yet. Unfortunately I have tried to accomplish a couple things I haven't before and have gotten snagged b/t Safari and Firefox.

This is a testing site, none of the links actually go anywhere yet, but my problem isnt with links, it is with the header (and probably my overall mess of a CSS structure).

So my problem is the images in the header slideshow are 1200px wide. I want them to be that wide but to maintain a 960px width for the site... Basically... if someone is viewing this at 1000px wide browser session, I don't want horizontal scroll bars to appear.

This doesn't happen in Firefox, but it does happen in Safari (and probably other browsers).

I am using a jQuery slider with the white PNG absolutely positioned over top of the slideshow. I am also using a jquery.dimensions.js to dynamically feed the width of the window into a DIV containing the slideshow.

I am a more than a bit rusty with CSS so the actual problem is not obvious to me. I've modified the demo jquery calls that I found when downloading them as I don't really write jquery code from scratch.

I've gone on long enough, hopefully a kind forumer wouldn't mind providing me a little clarity on this.

    Thanks in advance.

    Add width:100% !important; in #sliderWrap (screen.css line 5)
