    Formatting issue in Safari

(sorry, forgot to include url: www.nylafilms.com/nylabeta3 )

how come the 'NYLA films Online Store' line doesnt start just below the nav buttons? instead it starts halfway down the page? In safari and IE.

    thanks.
    David

P.S.-i ran the validator and got a lot of errors with the embed code that youtube gives, amongst other things i dont quite understand yet, so that it why it is not validated as of yet. i do know that, i have used this template in the past and found it necessary to run it under 'strict' html due to formatting issues on all the different browsers.

Well, one funny thing is that the same issue appears in Firefox for me.

The problem: You are using tables where they aren’t appropriate. Tables are only allowed to display tabular data (tabular data are, for example, sports results or stock exchange tables or a phone/address directory), not to produce a page layout.

The reason for the issue you are noticing: Table cells align their content in the middle by default. The right column is higher than the content in the left column so that content is positioned in the middle of the entire cell.

The (really simple) immediate “solution” to your problem: apply vertical-align: top to your table cells (with CSS! This means td {vertical-align: top;}).
