    I almost have it finished except for one error

    There is an unexplained area to the left of the list (Well, unexplained to me anyway)

    I would like to know please, why its there and how to get rid of it.

    It's the default padding applied to the ul which normally indents the bulleted lisy. Everthing except IE applies this indent via padding, IE does it via margin. So add:

    margin:0;
    padding:0

    to the css for your ul and that should sort it.
